✨ Supplies You’ll Need:
- Cream or white -colored air dry clay
- 1.9″ Styrofoam ball (I found mine at Dollar Tree!)
- Wooden skewer
- Deco Art Metallics Gold paint
- Paintbrush
- Toothpicks
- Silver glitter card stock
- Cricut cutting machine
- Cricut Design Space
- Barely Arts Glue
🧙♂️ Let’s Make Magic – Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cover the Styrofoam Ball
I started by rolling out some cream-colored air dry clay and covering a 1.9″ Styrofoam ball with it. Smooth the clay all around the ball, and once it’s covered, gently insert a skewer into the bottom. This gives you a handle and a way to set it aside while it dries.
2. Design the Wings in Cricut Design Space
While the clay is drying, it’s time to hop into Cricut Design Space!
- Open a new canvas and add a 2-inch circle shape.
- Search the Images for a “Snitch” and select one that you like.
- Resize the image so the center of the Snitch matches your 2-inch circle.
- Layer the circle over the Snitch center, select both, click Combine > Subtract to remove the center.
- Now you have just the wings! Duplicate the wings and delete one side from each copy so that the wings are separated.
- Duplicate both wings again and flip them horizontally to create a front and back set.
This gives you four wings in total—two for each side.
3. Cut the Wings
Click Make It and select Heavy Cardstock as your material since we’re using silver glitter card stock. Let your Cricut do the cutting!
4. Assemble the Wings
After cutting, glue each wing pair together with a toothpick sandwiched in between. The toothpicks will make it easy to insert the wings into the clay body later.
5. Paint the Snitch
Once the clay is completely dry, it’s time to paint it gold. This may take a few coats to get that bright, shiny finish, so let it dry between each coat.
6. Insert the Wings
When your Snitch ball is gold and dry, gently insert the wings using the toothpicks. Now you have a beautiful golden Snitch pick!
🪄 Use Your Golden Snitch Pick Anywhere!
You can pop your golden snitch pick into a bouquet of flowers, tuck it into a wreath for a magical touch, or even add it to garland for a wizard-themed party or room decor.
Whether you’re decorating for a Harry Potter party or just adding some magic to your everyday spaces, this golden Snitch pick is a fun, easy, and sparkly DIY that’s sure to impress!
