Instructions
Cutting Out the Football Turkey
- Unzip the download file.
Then open up Design Space and start a new project.
Click Upload and find where you saved the unzipped version of the downloaded files for this project.
Then go into the SVG Folder and select the SVG Files- Select all
- Click on the lock button if it is not locked, then resize the gnome to the size you want to cut out
- Next select all and click on
- Because I cut the football white pieces out of vinyl I went in and changed the eye color from white to a light yellow
- to do this select the white eyes
- click on the color selector next to basic cut
- select a color that you are not using
- now the eye color has been changed
Next you will click on "Make It" and the mat selection screen will appear- Once you select the mat size click on the continue button
- Next the prepare mat screen will appear.
Now if everything looks correct on it, click on the continue button
The next screen will be where you will select the type of card stock you are using. If you do not see the material in your material favorites, click on "browse all materials" to find the weight of cardstock that you are using. For example the orange Cardstock I used is medium weight, you will need to select "Medium Weight"..
Once you have Design Space set, you are now ready to prepare your mat. I used a brayer when placing the Cardstock on the mat, this helps in making sure that the paper is adhered to the mat and will help in keeping the paper from ripping or moving when it is being cut.
Assembling the Football Turkey
- Starting with the footballs for the feathers
- and the main football
- place the vinyl on the footballs
- the main football gets the two long white strips for either end of the football and one of the long stitches for in the middle at the top of the football
- four of the football feathers gets the small white strips for the one end and the stitches
- now you are ready to add the football feathers to the bottom layer of the turkey
- put foam dots on the one end of each of the football feathers
- then place it on the bottom layer of the turkey
- Next take the red brown turkey body
- place foam dots on the back and then place it on top of the bottom layer and feathers of the turkey
- next take the secondary color shirt
- put foam dots on the back and place it on top of the body aligning it at the bottom
- next take the main color shirt
- put foam dots on the back and place it on top of the secondary color jersey
- next take the feet
- and put foam dots on the back of each one and place them where they belong
- next take the main football that you have added the white vinyl too and put foam dots on the back of it and place it in the middle of the turkey
- next take the turkey wings
- place foam dots on the back of them like shown below
- then place the on either side of the football (the larger wing goes on the right side)
- next take the beak and gobbler
- glue the orange beak on top of the red gobbler
- then put foam dots on the back of the beak and gobbler as shown below
- place the beak on the turkey (see photo below for placement)
