Holi Mandala

Holi is an ancient Hindu tradition. It is a festival of color and celebrates the welcome of Spring and new beginnings.

Make this pretty mandala using card stock and your Cricut. Even if you don’t celebrate this holiday, this pretty mandala will make a nice addition to your decor.

  • Orange Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • Red or Pink Cardstock
  • Teal Cardstock
  • Foam Dots
  • Foam Strips
  • Barely Arts Glue

Holi Mandala

  • White Cardstock
  • Orange Cardstock
  • Red or Pink Cardstock
  • Teal Cardstock
  • Foam Dots
  • Foam Strips
  • Glue

Instructions

Cutting Out the Holi Mandala

  • Unzip the download file.
  • Then open up Design Space and start a new project.
  • Click
  • upload button
  • find where you saved the unzipped version of the downloaded files for this project.


    Then go into the SVG Folder and select the SVG Files

  • select all and click on
  • ungroup in design space
  • Select all and change it to the size you want to cut out
  • design space resize
  • Then click on the Make It button
  • The prepare screen will appear
  • Now if everything looks correct on it, click on the continue button
    The next screen will be where you will select the type of card stock you are using. If you do not see the material in your material favorites, click on "browse all materials" to find the weight of cardstock that you are using. For example the black cardstock, I used was Medium Weight on, you will need to select "Medium Weight Cardstock".
    Once you have Design Space set, you are now ready to prepare your mat. I used a brayer when placing the Cardstock on the mat, this helps in making sure that the paper is adhered to the mat and will help in keeping the paper from ripping or moving when it is being cut. 

Assembling the Holi Mandala

  • Starting with the bottom black layer
  • put foam strips on the back and place it on the orange circle

  • next take the bottom white layer
  • put foam strips on the back and place it on top of the black bottom layer
  • next take the teal layer

  • put glue on the back and place it on top of the white layer (make sure not to cover up the circle openings on the white layer)
  • next take the top large black layer
  • put glue on the back and glue to the teal layer (the leaves go over the teal layer)
  • next take the red or pink circle

  • put foam dots on the back and place in the center
  • next take the black circle
  • put foam dots on the back and place on top of the red or pink center circle
  • make sure to align up the holes that are cut out
  • next take the white circle
  • holi mandala white circle
  • put glue on the back and glue it to the black circle making sure to align up the holes
  • next take the black starburst
  • holi mandala black starburst
  • put glue on the back and glue to the white circle in the center making sure not to cover any of the holes
  • next take the red or pink piece
  • holi mandala red piece
  • put glue on the back and glue to the center of the black starburst
  • next take the teal piece
  • holi mandala teal piece
  • put glue on the back and glue to the red or pink piece
  • next take the white cross piece
  • put glue on the back in the middle and glue to the center of the teal piece
  • next take the black piece
  • holi mandala black piece
  • put glue on the back and glue to the white cross piece
  • next take the red or pink tear drops
  • put glue on the back and glue them to the black piece
