Jointed Baron

Make a Jointed Baron for Halloween & Day of the Dead – Two Versions to Love!

Halloween and Day of the Dead just wouldn’t be the same without the Baron—and now you can make your very own Jointed Baron using card stock, vinyl, and your cutting machine! This project is a must-have for your seasonal decor, and I’ve got two fun versions to choose from: one with a classic look and one with a colorful sugar skull twist. 🎃💀

✂️ What You’ll Need

To bring the Baron to life, you’ll need:

  • Card stock – for the base of the Baron’s body and suit.
  • Adhesive vinyl – for the details on the sugar skull face.
  • Brads or paper fasteners – for assembling the joints.
  • Optional: String or ribbon – to hang him in your window or on your door.
  • Design #97

For the Baron’s suit, I used some fun Halloween cardstock I had on hand—something with a little pattern and flair. You totally don’t have to stick to plain black. Go bold! Use stripes, bats, spiders, or anything that feels festive and fabulous.

🕴️ Meet the Jointed Baron

The Jointed Baron is a dapper and slightly spooky skeleton character that’s perfect for both Halloween and Día de los Muertos. He comes in two different head options:

  • A plain skull face for a classic Halloween vibe.
  • A sugar skull face, featuring vibrant vinyl elements for a festive Day of the Dead look.

Whether you’re celebrating spooky season or honoring loved ones, this decoration brings charm, character, and a little creepy flair to your home.

💀 Sugar Skull Style

If you love sugar skulls, then you’re going to adore the sugar skull version of the Jointed Baron. I designed this version to be easier to assemble by using vinyl for the details, which adds color and dimension without the need to glue down tiny paper pieces.

The vinyl sugar skull pieces layer perfectly over the cardstock head, giving the Baron a vibrant, traditional Day of the Dead look—without the crafting headache. Win-win!

🧡 Customize Your Baron

The best part of this craft? You can customize everything—from the paper patterns to the colors of the vinyl. Make your Baron elegant, silly, spooky, or dazzling. Pose his arms and legs however you like, and hang him up with a little twine or ribbon for instant holiday cheer.

Whether he’s dancing in your window or guarding your front door, the Jointed Baron is sure to make people smile (or shiver just a little!).

🕸️ The Perfect Handmade Decoration

I love homemade decorations, and the Jointed Baron is just so fun to put together. He’s the kind of craft that gets people talking—and it’s a great project to make with older kids or for a Halloween party.

Decorate for Halloween and Día de los Muertos with style and personality by making your very own Jointed Baron. Whether you go classic or colorful, he’s a unique piece that’ll be part of your seasonal decor for years to come.
