Layered Gingerbread Man
Who doesn’t love a cute little gingerbread man at Christmas? Today I’m going to show you how to create this adorable layered gingerbread man using my SVG design and your Cricut machine. This project is simple, sweet, and full of holiday charm — perfect for adding a festive touch to your Christmas decor!
You can make him full-size for wall or shelf decorations, resize him to fit on the front of a card, or even turn him into an ornament or holiday banner. There are so many ways to use this fun design!

Supplies You’ll Need:
- My Layered Gingerbread Man SVG – Design #35 (available in my free library)
- Cricut machine (any model works great!)
- Brown card stock (for the gingerbread man)
- White card stock (for icing details)
- Red, pink, green, or other colors (for buttons, cheeks, and bow)
- Glitter card stock (optional for extra sparkle)
- Cutting mat
- Cricut tools (weeding tool, scraper, etc.)
- Barely Arts Glue or foam dots (for layering)
- Ribbon or string (if making ornaments or garland)
Let’s Make It!
Step 1 – Upload Your SVG
Open Cricut Design Space and upload the Layered Gingerbread Man SVG. The file is already layered for you, making it easy to cut each piece in the right color.
Step 2 – Choose Your Materials
For a classic look, use brown card stock for the gingerbread man, white card stock for the icing details, and bright colors for the buttons, cheeks, and bow. You can even add glitter cardstock for a little extra holiday sparkle.
Step 3 – Cut Your Pieces
Load your cardstock onto your Cricut mat and let the machine work its magic. Make sure to select the correct material settings in Design Space for each type of cardstock you’re using.
Step 4 – Assemble Your Gingerbread Man
Use glue or foam dots to layer all the pieces together. The layering gives your gingerbread man adorable dimension and really makes him pop.
Step 5 – Customize How You Use Him!
- Home Decor: Add your layered gingerbread man to shelves, tiered trays, or Christmas displays.
- Christmas Card: Resize the SVG smaller in Design Space to fit on the front of a card for a super cute handmade holiday card.
- Ornament: Punch a hole at the top, add ribbon or twine, and hang your gingerbread man on the Christmas tree.
- Holiday Banner: Use the banner piece included in the SVG file! Cut several gingerbread men, attach them to the banner pieces, string them together, and create a festive garland to hang across your mantle or doorway.
