Layered Owl
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for — and this adorable layered owl fits right in with my fall and Thanksgiving decor! Using my SVG design and your Cricut machine, I’ll show you how to create this sweet little owl, complete with sunflower eyes, to add to your seasonal decorations.
I love decorating with items that can work for both fall and Thanksgiving — I simply mix and match turkeys, pumpkins, owls, pumpkin people, leaves, acorns, sunflowers, and scarecrows to create a cozy seasonal vibe that lasts from September through November. This owl is one of those perfect pieces you can enjoy all season long!

Supplies You’ll Need:
- My Layered Owl SVG – Design #33 (available in my free library)
- Cricut machine (any model works!)
- Card stock in various fall colors: browns, yellows, oranges, greens, tans, creams
- Glitter card stock (optional for extra sparkle)
- Cutting mat
- Paper Flower Mat & Tools
- Cricut tools (weeding tool, scraper, etc.)
- Barely Arts Glue or foam dots (for layering)
Let’s Make It!
Step 1 – Upload Your SVG
Open Cricut Design Space and upload the Layered Owl SVG. The file is already separated into layers, which makes it super easy to cut and assemble.
Step 2 – Pick Your Materials
Choose your cardstock colors to match your fall decor — rich browns for the body, golden yellows for the sunflower eyes, and warm oranges, greens, and creams for the feathers and accents. You can even use glitter cardstock for a little extra sparkle on the sunflowers or leaves.
Step 3 – Cut Your Pieces
Place your cardstock on the Cricut mat, set your material settings in Design Space, and let your Cricut machine do all the cutting for you. Because this design has several layers, you may want to keep your pieces organized as you cut.
Step 4 – Assemble Your Owl
Using glue or foam dots, start layering each piece together. While there are quite a few pieces in this project, don’t worry — just follow the layers and watch your owl come to life! The sunflower eyes give him such a unique and adorable fall look.
Step 5 – Customize How You Display It!
- Door or Wall Decor: Add ribbon or string to hang your owl on your front door, wall, or mantle.
- Shelf Display: Prop him up on a shelf or tiered tray with your other fall decor.
- Thanksgiving Centerpiece: Include him in a table centerpiece along with pumpkins, leaves, and acorns.
- Gift Idea: Make one for a friend who loves fall decorating!
This Layered Owl with Sunflowers for Eyes is a perfect addition to your fall and Thanksgiving decor. Even though it has a lot of little pieces, it’s still easy to make — and so much fun to put together.
I hope you enjoy creating your owl as much as I do. If you make one, please share a photo in the comments — I’d love to see how yours turns out! 🦉🌻🍂
So grab your card stock, fire up your Cricut, and let’s get crafting for fall!
