Create This Easy Make to Layered Owl

I will show you how to create this adorable owl to add to your Fall or Thanksgiving decor.

I like to use some of the same decorations to decorate for both Fall and Thanksgiving. I just add some turkeys in with my decor of sunflowers, pumpkins, owls, pumpkin people, leaves, acorns and scarecrows.

The Owl SVG can be hung on your door for the fall and Thanksgiving season. This projects is easy to make although it has a lot of pieces that go into making it

Materials Needed

  • 2 Sheets of Medium/Dark Brown Cardstock 12×12
  • 1 Sheet of Gold Foil Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Lemon Drop Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Light Brown Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Orange Cardstock
  • Barely Arts Glue
  • Foam Dots
  • Paper Molding Mat & Tools

Layered Owl

Materials

  • 2 Sheets of Medium/Dark Brown Cardstock 12x12
  • 1 Sheet of Gold Foil
  • 1 Sheet of Lemon Drop Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Light Brown Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Orange Cardstock
  • Glue
  • Foam Glue Dots/Squares

Tools

  • Cricut Maker
  • Brayer
  • Green Cutting Mat
  • Weeding Tool

Instructions

Step 1. Cutting Out the Owl Decoration

Upload the owl body. Check to make sure the size is correct.

Once you have uploaded the SVG file into design space and have checked to make sure it is ready to cut, click on "Make It".

The next screen that will appear is the "Prepare" screen, if everything looks correct on it, click on the continue button

The next screen will be where you will select the type of card stock you are using. If you do not see the material in your material favorites, click on "browse all materials" to find the weight of cardstock that you are using. For example the Pumpkin Orange Cardstock I used is medium weight, I would type in the browse all materials "Medium Weight".

Next upload the owl outline. Check to make sure the size is correct.

Then upload the eyes (sunflowers). Check to make sure the size is correct.

Select all and attach. Change the dotted lines from basic cut to score lines.

Upload the wings. Check to make sure the size is correct.

Upload the beak. Check to make sure the size correct.

Step 2. Assembling the Owl Decoration

Starting with the owl brown piece

Take the owl outline gold piece

put glue on the back of the gold piece of the owl outline and then glue it to the brown owl piece.

Next take the four (4) sunflowers

using a shaping mat and tool shape each of the sunflower pieces.

after you have all four (4) pieces of the sunflowers shaped, take two (2) of the sunflowers and glue them together

Once you have both sunflowers eyes glued, then glue the black pieces in the middle of each eye

Next glue the brown pieces on top of the black middle pieces on the eyes

Take the wing outline pieces and glue them on to the wing pieces

Place the eyes, beak and wings on the owl to see where they should go

Once you see where they wings go, using foam glue dots place them on the back of the wings

Continuing adding the wing pieces to the owl until they are all added.

Once you have the wing pieces added, glue the eyes on and the beak.
