Spring Showers Card

When you think of Spring coming you think of the saying April showers bring May flowers. The Spring Showers Card reminds you of this saying.

Download and make the Spring Showers Card using your Cricut for a birthday or thinking of you card. This is an easy to make card with an embossed layer. Homemade cards are always great to give and receive.

Instructions

Cutting Out the Spring Showers Card

  • Unzip the download file.
  • Then open up Design Space and start a new project.
  • Click Upload and find where you saved the unzipped version of the downloaded files for this project.


  • Then go into the SVG Folder and select the SVG Files

  • Select all and
  • ungroup in design space
  • next select the dotted line

  • change from basic cut to score line
  • then select the card the score line
  • and click on
  • design space attach button
  • Then click on the Make It button
  • The prepare screen will appear
  • Now if everything looks correct on it, click on the continue button
    The next screen will be where you will select the type of card stock you are using. If you do not see the material in your material favorites, click on "browse all materials" to find the weight of cardstock that you are using. For example the green Cardstock I used is medium weight, you will need to select "Medium Weight"..
    Once you have Design Space set, you are now ready to prepare your mat. I used a brayer when placing the Cardstock on the mat, this helps in making sure that the paper is adhered to the mat and will help in keeping the paper from ripping or moving when it is being cut. 

Assembling the Spring Showers Card

  • Starting with the card piece

  • fold the card in half on the score line
  • then take the cream overlay piece
  • spring showers card cream overlay
  • using your embossing machine and an embossing folder, emboss this piece
  • then take double sided craft tape and put it on the back and place this piece in the center on the front of the card
  • Next take the umbrella
  • and the umbrella handle
  • put glue on the back of it and glue it to the umbrella
  • next take the umbrella overlay pieces
  • put foam dots on the back of the overlays and place them on the umbrella
  • next take the tulip pieces
  • take the small tulip flower piece and put glue on the bottom of it and glue it to the back of the large tulip flower piece (do this for all three tulips)
  • then take the leaves and glue them on the stems
  • then take the tulips and glue them on the stems
  • next glue the tulips at the bottom of the cream overlay
  • then put glue on the back of the umbrella and glue it on the front of the card
  • then take the raindrops and put glue on the back of them and place them on the card (see below for placement)
