Materials You’ll Need:

  • My 3D Uncle Sam SVG – Design #9 (available in my shop)
  • Cricut cutting machine
  • 100 lb Sapphire Blue cardstock (or similar heavyweight cardstock for the blue pieces)
  • 65-80 lb cardstock in red, white, cream, black, and other accent colors
  • Barely Arts Glue
  • Small Glue Dots
  • Cricut Standard Grip Mat
  • Cricut fine-point blade

Tips Before You Begin:

To make assembly easier, I recommend using a thicker cardstock for the blue sections. I used 100 lb Sapphire Blue card stock, and it gave Uncle Sam a nice sturdy structure, especially for the hat and body panels.

  1. Upload and Prepare the SVG:
Upload my 3D Uncle Sam SVG into Cricut Design Space and size it to approximately 11 1/4 inches tall by 8 inches wide.
  2. Cut Your Pieces:
Load your mats and begin cutting each color according to the design. Be sure to keep the pieces organized as you go to make assembly easier.
  3. Assemble the Body and Head:
Start by gluing the main body panels together. The thicker blue cardstock will give structure as you work your way around. Attach the cream face panels, eyes, nose, and mustache.
  4. Add the Details:
Attach the stripes on the hat, add the brim, and carefully glue on the white beard pieces. Don’t forget his eyebrows and bow tie!
  5. Make the Hat Lid:
The hat is designed to be removable so you can tuck treats or small gifts inside. Assemble the lid carefully, making sure the edges are smooth so it fits securely on top.
  6. Final Touches:
Once all the pieces are attached, check for any loose edges and press gently to ensure everything is secure.

Once finished, your 3D Uncle Sam will stand proudly at approximately 11 1/4 inches tall and 8 inches wide. You can place him alongside your other 4th of July decorations, or fill his hat with candy, small gifts, or even a handwritten note for a festive holiday gift.

hope you enjoy making your 3D Uncle Sam as much as I did designing him! If you do make one, I’d love to see your version — be sure to tag me on social media.

Happy crafting,

Carla
