Watermelon Slice
Create this fun watermelon slice to add to your summer decor using my free SVG file.

Do you love the fake food you see online that you can buy or create your own? If you do, now you can create your own watermelon slice to either display by adding the hanger that is included or setting it out with you summer decor.
The Watermelon Slice looks realistic with having the seeds cut out of the red panels in order for the black card stock base to show through.

Materials Needed
I love whimsical decor and decided to create one of my watermelon wedges with a gold edge instead of the traditional white.

Watermelon Wedge
Equipment
- Cricut Maker or your favorite cutting machine
- Scoring Wheel/Stylus
- Glue
- Green Cutting Mat
Materials
- 2 Sheets Red Hot Cardstock 8 1/2 x 11
- 1 Sheet of White Cardstock
- 1 Sheet of Black Cardstock 12 x 12
- 1 Sheet of Green Cardstock Medium to Dark Green 12 x 12
- 1 Sheet of Sour Apple Cardstock 12 x 12
Instructions
- Step 1. Cutting Out the Watermelon WedgeFirst upload the back of the watermelon wedge. Check to make sure the size is correct. This is shown in white in order to see the score lines, although it should be cut out of black cardstock.
- Select all and attach, then change the dotted lines from basic cut to score lines. Now you are ready to cut it out.
- Next upload and cut out the front of the watermelon wedge. Check to make sure the size is correct.
- Upload the red panels and hangers. Check to make sure the size is correct.
- You can cut the red pieces out separately or you can cut them out together. Below I show you how I had to rearrange them on the mat in design space in order to fit them on a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.
- Next upload the green panels and cut them out. Check to make sure the size is correct.
- Upload the bottom panel and cut it out. Check to make sure the size is correct.
- Upload the bottom. Check to make sure the size is correct. Select all and attach. Change the dotted lines to score lines.
- Now you are ready to cut out the bottom.
- Then upload the white pieces and cut them out. Check to make sure the size is correct.
- Step 2. Assembling Your Watermelon Wedge
- First taking the Front piece of the slice and the bottom, glue them together.
- Next glue the bottom to the back piece.
- Glue the side tabs of the bottom to the back piece.
- Then glue the front of the back piece together
- Next glue one side of the front to the back tabs.
- Then glue the other side of the front to the back tabs.
- Now that your watermelon wedge is together, put it aside and work on your panels
- Starting with the front panel glue the green panel to the bottom of it.
- Instead of white I used gold for the white strip that you will glue next to the top of the green panel.
- Repeat and do the same for the back panel.
- Now you are ready to glue the front and back panels on to your watermelon slice.
- Next take a side panel and glue the green panel on top of it at the bottom.
- The green panel will cover up part of the one seed that is cut out.
- Next glue the white (I used gold) the the green panel.
- Repeat and do the same with the other side panel.
- Before you glue the side panels on, if you are wanting to use the hanger to hang your watermelon wedge, glue the hanger near the top of the slice on each side.
- Next glue the side panels on each side of the watermelon wedge.
- Now your watermelon wedge is complete and ready to be displayed.
