Watermelon Card
Create This Fun Watermelon Card
The Watermelon Card is easy to create using your Cricut, with cardstock and vinyl. I loved how the shiny holographic vinyl I used brought the words Hello Summer out on the card. The layered watermelon makes a great touch.
You can also use this design to create a shirt, a summer bag or a tumbler.

- and click on weld
- Then select the word "Summer"
- and click on weld
- Next select the dotted line
- changed from basic cut to score line
- Next select the card and the score line
- If you would like to add wording to the front of the card see my post on adding text
- Then click on the Make It button
- Next the screen wll appear that you select the mat size
- and then click on continue
- The prepare screen will appear with the various mat
- Now if everything looks correct on it, click on the continue button
The next screen will be where you will select the type of card stock you are using. If you do not see the material in your material favorites, click on "browse all materials" to find the weight of cardstock that you are using. For example the green Cardstock I used is medium weight, you will need to select "Medium Weight"..
Once you have Design Space set, you are now ready to prepare your mat. I used a brayer when placing the Cardstock on the mat, this helps in making sure that the paper is adhered to the mat and will help in keeping the paper from ripping or moving when it is being cut. - Please note when using regular vinyl that is not HTV (iron-on) you do not need to mirror it on the prepare screen. Don't forget when selecting the material type to select the correct type of vinyl you are using to cut out.
Assembling the Watermelon Card
- Starting with the watermelon pieces
- put glue on the back of the red piece and glue the black piece to it
- Next put foam glue dots on the back of the black watermelon piece
- then put it on top of the green watermelon piece
- Next take the hello wording and weed the vinyl
- Then using transfer tape adhere the wording to the transfer tape
- Then place the wording on the card front and adhere it to the card and remove the transfer tape
- Now you are ready to add the summer wording, do the same as with the hello wording
- Next take the card and add the watermelon below the wording
- Fold the card piece in half on the score line
