Veteran’s Day Shadowbox

Honor Heroes with a Handmade Veterans Day Shadowbox – Crafted with Love and Cardstock

Veterans Day is a time to honor the brave men and women who have served our country—and for me, it’s especially personal. As both a wife and daughter of veterans, this day holds a deep place in my heart. I wanted a meaningful way to show my appreciation and love, and what better way than through a handmade shadowbox using my Gold Star and Purple Heart SVGs, your Cricut, and a little creativity?

This project is more than just decor—it’s a tribute.

Veterans Day shadowbox

This year, I created a Veterans Day shadowbox to honor one of the most important heroes in my life—my father, who served in World War II. During his service, he was wounded in action and was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Gold Star for his bravery. This project is my way of remembering his sacrifice and celebrating his life through creativity. Although I no longer have my father with me, I honor him and my husband who served during peace time.

Using my custom SVGs for the Gold Star and Purple Heart, your Cricut, and just a few simple supplies, you can make a beautiful and meaningful shadowbox to honor your own hero.

Making Your Veterans Day Shadowbox

First, cut out the Gold Star and Purple Heart pieces using your Cricut and my SVGs. I used gold foil card stock for the star and rich purple and metallic gold for the heart—it really makes the designs stand out beautifully against a clean background.

Layer the pieces with foam tape to add dimension and create a professional, almost medal-like look inside your shadowbox.

For the background, you can use anything from a star-spangled patterned paper to simple white or navy cardstock. Add a vinyl quote like “Home of the free because of the brave” or personalize it with a name or date to honor a loved one.

Don’t forget to add little touches like mini flags, ribbon, or even dog tags for an extra personal connection.

A Tribute That Lasts

This shadowbox makes a beautiful gift for a veteran, a thoughtful piece for your home, or a respectful display at an event or ceremony. It’s a simple, yet powerful way to say, “Thank you for your service.”

Crafting this project as someone who knows the sacrifice and strength of military families firsthand—it means the world to me. And I hope it inspires you to create something just as special.

Handmade with Heart and Honor

I love blending crafting with purpose, and this Veterans Day Shadowbox is a perfect example of that. It’s easy to make with cardstock, but full of depth, honor, and pride. Whether you’re a military family or just want to show your appreciation, this project is a beautiful way to do it.

So grab your Cricut, my SVGs, and let’s create something meaningful together—one Gold Star, one Purple Heart, and one heartfelt thank you at a time. 🇺🇸💜⭐
