Create This Easy DIY Layered Dolphin Mandala with Your Cricut

I absolutely love dolphins — their graceful movements and playful personalities always make me smile. That’s exactly why I designed this Dolphin Mandala SVG! Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to create a beautiful Layered Dolphin Mandala using my SVG and your Cricut.

Whether you’re looking to add a little something special to your beach decor or make a handmade card for someone who loves dolphins, this project is perfect. Plus, mandalas are very popular right now and this is a great beginner project if you’re new to layered designs.

My Dolphin Mandala SVG is a fun design to create and makes a beautiful dimensional piece for your home or as a gift. You can display it:

• On a shelf or tabletop display
• As the focal point on a card for a birthday or special occasion

Supplies Needed

To get started, you’ll need:

• My Dolphin Mandala SVG – Design #2 (available in my free library)
• Cricut cutting machine
• StandardGrip or LightGrip cutting mat
• Card stock in multiple colors (think ocean blues, grays, whites, and pastels)
• Adhesive (foam dots, glue dots, or craft glue)
• Optional: Shadow box frame or blank card base

How to Make the Layered Dolphin Mandala

Step 1 – Download the SVG
Download my Dolphin Mandala SVG from my free library. If you’re not already a member, you can sign up to get instant access to this file and many more.

Step 2 – Upload into Cricut Design Space
Open Design Space, upload the SVG file, and bring it onto your canvas. You can resize it depending on where you plan to display it — I usually make mine between 8” and 10” wide for shadow boxes or scale it down for cards.

Step 3 – Select Your Cardstock Colors
Pick your favorite shades to match your decor or personal style. Blues, aquas, and grays work beautifully for a dolphin and ocean theme.

Step 4 – Cut Each Layer
Load your cardstock onto your mat one color at a time and cut each layer using your Cricut. Make sure your blade is sharp for those intricate cuts.

Step 5 – Assemble the Layers
Once all your pieces are cut, it’s time to layer! Start from the bottom and work your way up, using foam adhesive dots or glue between each layer to create that beautiful 3D effect.

Step 6 – Display or Gift Your Dolphin
Now your Layered Dolphin Mandala is ready! Place it in a shadow box, attach it to a card, or wrap it up as a gift for a friend who loves the beach and dolphins.
